This is Tonner’s 16″ Mei Li doll, part of the Tyler Wentworth series, the flagship 16″/40cm/1/4 doll which ran until Tonner closed in 2018. Tonner was known for designing high quality vinyl dolls, with a painstaking eye for detail. Tyler and her cohorts set the standard for other 16 fashion dolls, with articulated elbows and knees and a wardrobe full of luxury fabrics such as silk, linen and cashmere. The Tyler series included other characters such as Mei, Sydney and Esme, and they all share the same body. Other 16 doll outfits such as those by the Franklin Mint, All About Eve, or Madame Alexander’s Alex should also fit her body sculpt. This is the “Embassy Dinner” Mei Li doll, released in 2002 as a limited edition of 2000 pieces. It features Mei Li in a brilliant green and gold brocade peekaboo back dress accessorized with a rhinestone studded belt, beaded necklace, and simple black shoes. She has a very stylish and timeless straight black bob and an elegant face makeup suitable for any occasion.

The set includes 2 books – The Robert Tonner Story – hard cover “Dreams & Dolls” still in it’s plastic wrap and a soft cover “Update 2002″ books housed in a shiny black case. The dress is a full length black velour with 3 ruffled skirts at hem, lined in white fabric with white collar and a pink flower at the shoulder. Blue painted eyed, cherry lips. Is wearing her salmon pink evening gown, made up with. Silk charmeuse, & matching sequin bodice. For some reason Tonner had neglected to include/attach the packaged white wrap usually stapled to the side. Perhaps not all have a wrap. But since My doll still had hers. Still unremoved from packaging and stapled to her box. I included wrap in the listed box so you wouldn’t miss out. Also attached to her box in original packaging are. Opera length white gloves. Pink evening heels and rhinestone jewelry. Unremoved Display stand included. And the “portfolio” of drawings /fashions. Doll, Paper, Box, and shipper are in pristine condition. I had three -kept & displayed one (still have) with badly damaged box & shipper. This is the most pristine of the 3 & therefore of higher value. I always pay some of the postoffice charges.
